Barton Hills

Barton Hills is an established, secluded neighborhood in north Ann Arbor where you’ll find the best that southeast Michigan has to offer. Picturesque roads wind through this heavily treed, upscale neighborhood, and home construction dates back to the 1920s to modern day, with many designed by highly regarded architects and builders. If you’re looking for cookie-cutter homes, you certainly won’t find them in Barton Hills. This lends itself to the eclectic beauty of the neighborhood and many of the earlier-built homes have been upgraded while still maintaining many of their original features. Lots range from nearly half an acre to several acres and homes have fantastic views of the Huron River, Barton Nature Area, Bird Hills Nature Area, and is just north of US-23. You’ll also be minutes from downtown Ann Arbor, the Ann Arbor District Library, the University of Michigan - North Campus, and nearby stores like Kroger. Barton Hills’ has an interesting history with its original purpose being for cattle grazing by Towar Dairy and later purchased by Detroit Edison, who built the Barton Dam in 1913. Many of the estates built along the river were owned by Detroit Edison executives when the neighborhood was up and coming. In 1973, Barton Hills became an incorporated village. If you're looking for a new home in a natural setting with decades of rich Ann Arbor history behind it, Barton Hills may be the perfect community for you.
